I got a 17 HP single gave to me and I was just wondering if they were worth messing with. Probably  not gonna turn real hard. No serious racing just something  to play around on Stock flywheel? How are the stock internals?  Any oiling mods I need to do? Thanks for any help

I have one in parts, the head design is actually better than briggs, however the crank and balancer I dont trust. For mild stockish build like you want to do I'm sure it will hold up fine. Never built one that's all the info I can give, good luck.
