Drag Mowers / Drag Racing Organizations
« on: September 26, 2019, 12:38:09 pm »
Anyone know of any lawn mower DRAG racing in the Northeast? Ran roundy round for a bit and was hoping to see some more straight line mower racing come into play.

Would of been nice by now if the USLMRA would have a new division featuring drag racing (either grass, dirt  or asphalt).

We have some interest in my area to build some drag mowers and we would like to be part of or form an organization to help this branch of mower racing turn into something.

Would like to see some classes based around USLMRA engine rules as well as an “open” class to run other engines say up to 750cc’s.

If anyone has thoughts, interest or ideas, please let me know… If we can get enough interest going on here, maybe I can get Mr. Kaufman to come on board for possibilities. Thanks!!!

Driveline / The "NEW" 700's out there
« on: May 19, 2016, 10:16:18 am »
Hi Everyone!

It has been a looooong time since I posted but will be returning to racing NEXT season after a many many year involvement with other venues in life...

I see since I have been somewhat distant from this sport, that PRO-GEAR ( http://progear1.com/transmissions/ ) is manufacturing "replacement" 700 series transmissions and wondering if there has been anyone on here that has any input on them.

I see them advertised on ebay as well as other sites for around $150 or so. The used market I see is asking $100+ for used 700's and my local "used parts" connections are getting slim pickens!! (not the singer!)..LOL

So if anyone has any input they would like to share (quality, issues, compatibility with genuine Peerless components) , please reply or if you want, send me a PM!!

Thanks!!!

-Tom

Tecumseh Engines / School me on TVT691's
« on: February 03, 2012, 09:54:01 am »
Getting back into racing and ran into a friend who use to own a small engine "mower" shop.
He has a brand new COMPLETE (less muffler) 20 HP tvt691-600814 Enduro VT still in a box he'll sell me for $300.

Good starting point??? or look for another base engine?

I know the TVT691 have a long history but not educated on newer versions vs. older ones.

Driveline / Re: Peerless 350 Popping out of Gear ?

First year racin' I ran a 350...same thing! I ended up in bungee land as well. Then I got smart and went with a 700!

I liked the 350 but the gear ratio spread from 2nd to 3rd just didn't work for me being on a different track at every event.

Federal-Mogul # is 340387, most any parts store should be able to get it, but few have it in stock.

Not sure how things work now with USLMRA and licensing. While I did run BP before, I have been away for 3 race seasons.  BP is what I desire to race. Will have to make a few calls and see what needs to be done (if anything ) before I  go ahead and start building to deeply into a BP.
