Briggs OHV & Vanguard / ARC 6611 billet Flywheel timing advice.
« on: April 27, 2015, 04:37:18 am »
I have just purchased a Vanny 16hp v twin with a billet flywheel set around 30 deg advance. Previous owner advises it pulls hard from mid to high end but is a little sluggish down low. If I reduce the amount of advance on the flywheel will it help improve the lowdown performance? Cheers, Grant.

I should also mention it has the 35-3030 cam from EC Carbs ( I think it's also known as a cheetah grind?)

Afternoon all, the motor idles like a dream, give it a little throttle and she starts spits fuel back out the carb. I figure it's a timing issue but there nothing to adjust other than checking for wear in the keyway. Any other suggestions or ideas on what I shoould work through and eliminate of the check list?. As always. Your advice and help is appreciated, blessings, Grant

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Vanny 23hp cam in a 16 hp twin

Howdy all from Down under (aka New Zealand)
I've read on a couple of web sites that claim you can drop the stock cam from a 23 hp twin into a 16 twin and it will give you  a performance increase similar to a mild cam and works a treat without any other internal mods, would anyone on here have tried this or know if it does in fact work with stuffing anything else up?
Kindest regards, Grant

Will they work and is there any advantage in doing it? I can get a set at the right price but not sure if it's worth it, cheers Grant

Morning All

Re: 16 V Twin vertical shaft Vanguard. When viewed from the carny side of the motor which cylinder fires first, the left or right?

Building a set of tuned headers hence the question.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / 16hp V Twin Vanguard performance parts.
« on: October 14, 2013, 06:14:00 pm »
Good morning all

I'm looking to find a source for performance parts for my 16 hp v twin vanguards. I've google searched a few sites that offer bit and pieces but wondered if any of you fine gents could recommend a good supplier of parts including .20 thou over kits.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we don't have many options down here in New Zealand

Have a blessed day

Kia Ora ( traditional Maori greeting meaning hello or welcome)

I've spent plenty of time over the past months looking for help and advice on how to performance tune our 16Hp vanguard V twin racer. I'm pretty excited to have finally found this website and I look forward to drawing on the collective knowledge of fellow racers and enthusiasts alike to improve the performance of our racer.

I say ours as we have one completed and a second under construction, the first one (the green one on my profile) is actually my wife's one, although mine will be built along the same lines as they where both Kingcat Lynx's in tier former days.

We race here in New Zealand under the NZLMRA rules which allow class 2 to have a maximum of 32 cubic inches with no restrictions on modifications, hence I'm so pleased to have found this forum.

I look forward to giving as much as I get from this site
May you have a blessed day

Grant ( aka Churchydude)
