That's just awesome, i just LOVE the roar of those V-twins...
-
those are sum fast mowers :D
Ryan has so much stuff don to it its probably the mower with the most money in it of all the soltra members I think
-
Nice machines! It sounds like the one Ryan has revs higher, and he sure sits way down low in there.
-
I know George is running a Kohler, but what is Ryan running?
-
I'm running a 18hp single barrel briggs vanguard engine. That was the very first time out with the new machine. I took a lot of gear out, you can here the valves floating badly in the video, still getting it dialed in. I'm very happy with the way it handles, you can here all three tires screeching on the dirt in the video. Ryan www.rykerracing.ca

Hey I was on SOLTRA's site and I was wondering what class those fit in,cause it looks like Ryan's machine is a hand built kart instead of a factory tractor. The rules also say that you have to run a governor and it doesn't sound like they are governed.

great video...

They are super modifieds without govenor, the Soltra modifieds have to run a govenor. My chassis is a new walk through MTD, its only about 2.5" high until it kicks up behind the fenders, perfect for a racer, the seat is actually 3" off of the frame and the rear fenders are raised about 8" higher to clear the tires. Its not a fabricated kart chassis, but by the time we got the numbers we wanted on the scales it ended up looking kind of like a kart. Ryan www.rykerracing.ca

so Ryan did you find out what happened to your motor
-
I didn't see this till just now , real nice !!!
They do both look like they run pretty well and haul the mail too .
-
hey George, how big is the track you were testing on.
-
Ryan, I was looking at your site...I found somthing that caught my eye big time
(http://www.rykerracing.ca/bigpics/products/engines/engine125briggs.jpg)
a 12.5 hp vangaurd v twin :omg: i thought 14 hp was the smallest a vangard could go
Dose any one use these motors in racing? Are there any good performance parts for them? I'm sure George Herrin will chime in here soon.

They are 29ci the same as the 14hp, but they have the same bore and stroke as the 30ci 16hp. I have yet to find any difference between the two including the carburetor. All the goodies will fit in the 12.5hp like billet rods and camshafts and so on. It would be a nice engine for a class that has to run 13hp or less.

the 12,14 and 16 are same thing no differences. The 18 and 20 are the same thing bigger bore and stroke than the other 3 except the carb and intake is different between the two. Thats the only difference. Cam and rod is same in all of them.

The test track in the video had extremely tight corners and the straight aways I was told were 250' plus, I like a fast oval like that. Ryan
