Are there any rules that tell you how many beers you have to chug before you start?

Like Frank, "the Tank", said above....

I have also made wooden handles and attatched them to my slide switch to make things much easier to slide on.

Your best bet is to contact a ARMA official through email so as you can get a short direct answer to your question.

I know many super mods do NOT have any type of mower deck in stalled little alone a simulated one.  So does this imply that Pro-X mowers are not required a mower deck as well?

That statement alone might open up a can of worms that could have been avoided.
Good luck  ;)

Coffee Shop / Re: Helmet Sizing
« on: March 04, 2013, 07:47:49 am »
Sounds good...
I'll stick with my present measurements then. This one is single layer SFI 3.3 rated, nomex material. I would rather the helmet be a little snug then to loose, a proper fitting helmet is essential for the helmet to do the job it was intended for.

Thx guys...

Coffee Shop / Helmet Sizing

This is a little off the lawnmower subject but related in a way...
I have to purchase an auto racing helmet since my DOT helmet I use for lawnmower racing does not meet SCCA rules.
We don't have any places around here that sell that type of helmet so I can go try it on, I'll have to order online. I already know what size helmet I need but my question is this. I also have to where a fire-rated Balaclava under it and I don't know how much I need to add to the helmet size for that... Anyone been there done that?

Raced there a few times... Even had a National there a couple years. Once as a 2-day & 2 track USLMRA National, and once as an ARMA National.
Wrecked a good S/P and broke a bone or two at a local event.... ahhhhh, good times, gooood times....

You can buy a lot of replacement bulbs for $160.00. You may want to get out and check them things before you head out on a trip to Florida to go surfing... I mean Disney World.... I mean South Beach where the scenery is just right...  8)

Briggs Flathead / Re: carb for 8hp
« on: February 14, 2013, 11:57:59 am »
I run that same carb on my 8hp. I think you mean just a cold start is very hard, once it has warmed up it will kick right off. I had the same problem and found a choke is the key. Since my motor is basically stock other then the flywheel and some porting and polishing, I just put the factory choke in with a golf tee super glued to the top for easy access. It is way more carb then my stock motor really needs anyway.

There is another way. You can take a plasic walmart bag and put in over the air cleaner and hold it until it starts to crank and then take it off. Playing with the adjustment screws to make it start is fine as long as you don't hinder the performance once it has started.

Then again, it could be something else...

I had the reverse gear and chain in on my old S/P years ago when we raced in Berlin, GA. That same thing happened to me but for a different reason and I didn't wreck, just tore up the transaxle.

Herb Mason was in front of me and rolled it. I slammed on my breaks and also tried to downshift to neutral at the same time. I missed nuetral and found reverse which made all kinds of bad noises. That was the end of that one and I yanked the reverse chain in the replacement transaxle before I put it back in.

It was worth the transaxle though. I came up only a couple feet short of running him over as he went one way, his mower another, and all kinds of traffic around me.  :woo:

The reason it rolled on Ryan was because it locked up as he was entering the 3rd turn. Just a bad place to happen. If he were on the straights it would have locked but probably not have rolled like it did. At least that's what it looked like from my view ontop the flaggers stand.
