EC sells the new case and you can put all your gears in it. And it is NEW!!!!

and it is significantly beefier than a stock 700 case....IMO....i would DEF go this route!!!!! In your shoes anyway.

Again, not the gold standard, but I've had a 206(same with one extra gear) in a stocker for two season and it's not even race prepped.....it will last a little while at least, esp being new.

the 205 is the same as a 206 with one less gear.......

Yeah it's for a stock twin class tractor.....I have a 44ci kohler on it now, it will probably have a 40ci Briggs on it next year, might have a little more pull than even a heavy built 8 horse.  Honestly though the 48" I came up with is way more than I originally thought....maybe if I can squeeze a few more inches in here and there and get a little closer to 60" I will be in business

it would probably last a while with a smaller governed engine, but they are far from the golden standard.

I don't think there's any 6 speeds that are real great for racin, but I run one in a stocker and it hasn't broke yet- about 15 races later.......but I definately wouldn't pay that for one personally, unless it's not the peerless 6 speed 200 series I'm thinkin of.....what's the part number?

Ok....I actually set a tranny in a frame and did some measuring- center to center could be about 14" max.  With that distance and 8" engine pulley to 5" trans pulley I would have a minimum of 48" of belt.....without taking the clutch into consideration.   Just wanted to put this into perspective for sake of coversation.

Yeah the heat issue definitely came up in our conversation too....would a 5/8" belt help take care of the heat any better?

Driveline / Short belts: Problems...and solutions?
« on: September 25, 2010, 01:07:37 am »
Ok pretty simple....I am playing around with the idea of building a rig that might put the transmission input and engine pulleys pretty close together.....without having built it I estimate a distance of about 13" between centers of the shafts.  It would probably end up being about a 30" +/- belt all said and done.  I'm tryin to decide if this is the route I wanna go with this.  Issues we have come up with are lack of belt belt wrap and clutch design issues....but I'm looking for input from folks who have actually dealt with this first hand.
