Want To Buy / Who Has It? / WTB Briggs 8hp (Model 19) Performance Parts
« on: January 04, 2020, 09:57:27 pm »
Looking to buy performance parts for the briggs 8hp flathead (billet flywheel, billet rod, cam, valves, crank, etc.). Also interested in partial and/or complete engines if the price is right. Please feel free to PM me with what you have. Thanks!

I have been told the model 28 billet flywheel will work on the model 21

Yes the cam is the same as the 28/31 ohv's.  I use the solid gear cams from the older engines in mine.  I have been running one for 3 years now with no problems (I had a few due to my own errors assembling it...)  Rocket Ron sells a kit to stroke it with a different stock crank in it.  Im up to 29.8 cubic inches with one of the kits he offers.  It is quick to say the least :)

Appreciate the info!

Quicker than the 8hp Briggs and Tecumseh flatties??

Thanks for the info!

So same length rod as a 31, just a shorter stoke crank

I'm looking to get the powerbuilt model 21 w/o the balance system (as opposed to the Intek) and boring and sleeving to a 31 piston size if possible.

The cam must also be the same as in the 28 and 31 ohv?

Haven't been able to get my hands on one of these motors yet to really examine them. Have just been looking at illustrated parts sheets... but hopefully soon!!

Has anyone on here been running the 21 cube ohv briggs in the ap class? And if so, how have have they been holding up?

I've been reading a few past threads about them and the possibilities, but there hasn't seemed to be much said about them on here lately. Has there been a billet rod developed for these?

The only difference between those two engines are the decals.  So to answer your question, yes

That is definitely a wizard frame.  I have a wizard mower and it looks exactly like yours.

Comet Kart Sales is also another good place to get 6 inch split rims

Ec distributing sells heavy duty valve springs at a very reasonable price, definitely worth the money. And even the valves will float a little with a stock cam in so id get them regardless

Are these rods you keep putting in new?

Correct, if you are using the brass weights you don't need the dogbone since it is eliminated. And if you have the crank with removable eccentrics then ya they will go on easily. Otherwise you need to have the eccentrics machined off.  As far as hp gains, it wont really add hp, your engine may accelerate a little faster but you really wont notice much of a difference. the weights are more for protection of your engine when you want to run much higher rpms than stock as you may run the chance of the synchros coming apart and destroying your motor.  seen it happen before not pretty at all.

It might have said used with billet rod meaning billet connecting rod
Ok i found on arc's site it does say the dogbone is needed with the brass weights which obviously is not true
