Coffee Shop / USLMRA at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Just saw news bit, showing USLMRA is having a sanctioned race on pavement at Charlotte Motor Speedway tonight.
They will be on the Legends and Bandolero track. Thought it was a bad idea to race on pavement.
Just thought I'de mention if anyone wanted to attend, gates open at 5:00.

Computer got infected, do not know where or what site I went to.
It was a Trojan Virus, very nasty.
Within seconds my anti-virus was working to get rid of it.
Too late it was in the operating system. It was maskerading as an active-X file.
I was busy downloading something, saw the active-X banner, without thinking I clicked it.
That was it, the virus was in and within minutes I shut the computer down.
Took it a local shop, to have anti-virus run on my disk. The file system was corrupted,
the operating system was also.
Since this new version created little replicas of itself everywhere it goes, none of my files
or data can be used or copied. If they are the replicas will start to spread where ever
they go.
Please be very careful!!!

Tecumseh Engines / 17HP oiling

How do these things oil?
Do they oil up thru the cam shaft the down thru the main and counter shaft.
I'm at a loss.

Are all 17 HPs suposed to have two counterbalance shafts?
I just opened one up that has only one.

Tecumseh Engines / Tec OV490ea

Tecumseh OV490ea made in Brazil, is it the same as the ohv17 Tec engine?
By its dimentions it is but it does not have the same manufacture plant.
Is it as good or not, that is the question?

Looking for info on exhaust, I came accross a reference to an article or a post by George.
It was something called exheaust size / tuning post.
Can someone tell me how to find it?
By the way if you ever do a search for George Herrin on Google Be prepared for a flood.
He has written articles for many different scorces and been quoted by so many,
after several pages I gave up.

Chassis / Seat Hight

The local clubs here allow for the seat to be mounted
2" lower than the rear tire hight.
Is the advantage worth the trouble of having to design
and build a two level seat hight system?
What do you all think?

It never ceases to amaze me, the more I read
the more I can see that there is so much more to learn.
I have been reading and experimenting for months now,
I have gotten close to finishing my ride several times.
Each time I find out there was a better way to have done
something, so I go back and do it over only to find another
and better way.
Engines are the last thing now and I keep reading.
Not that I am satisfied with all that I have done to this point,
but I tired of taking things apart and am ready to drive it.
There are many of you, that have posted some ideas
that gave me a break through.
My thanks to all of you, some more prolific than others,
but thanks to all!

Over the last few weeks I have been experiencing slowing of connecting speeds on this site.
Checked my download and upload they are both within speck.
Anyone have an explanation?

Have a V twin.  Top cyl the plug read almost perfect color.
Bottom cyl is sooty.  Carb trouble or else where?
Might it be the coil for that cyl?

Started talking about my starter engine being a 460.
Grubb you said keep it. What do you mean, do you advise upgrading it as time goes by?
Such as billet crank, new rod, piston, flywheel and coil.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / AVS31 with 28 crank

Since the crank in a 31 has a larger lower bearing surface diameter,
what do you think of using either a roller bearing or a needle bearing
on the 28 crank instead of a bushing?

Diodes in kill switch circut.
I have seen diagrams showing the negative side stripe on the grounding switch side.
I have read that the stripe should be on the ciol side.
Which is right? Help!!

From time to time life demands pull me away from this site.
When I get back, so much has gone on I spend hours trying to catch up.
Some topics such as rev limiter and low cost tach interface and the like
are complex enough that,  I have to go back and read the whole thing to try to keep up.
It's a shame that we don't had some type of synopsis, or some way to
get the meat of a subject without having to read the whole log of comments.
Just the rambelings of an old man.
What do you all think?
