Briggs Flathead / Mods to 28 ci flathead?

Hello there, people of the internet! I just pick up my first spare engine so I'm going to build it up and I come to you guys wondering what so you do to your flatheads? I'm going to source a billet flywheel and hopefully a billet rod for peace of mind and I've been doing some porting and polishing but what else do you guys do?

I was wondering if it would be possible to mildly upgrade a vtwin but leave it governed but adjust it to rev higher oh and are ratio roller rockers a good up grade to wake up a vanguard a bit?

So I am wanting to spin my mower faster than stock however I want to keep my stock charging system. If I had enough room I would get a biullet flywheel and an alternator but it's a small Murray with a lack of room so I was wondering is there another way that doesn't risk my manhood?

How are they different? Does the Kohler have the same issues as the Briggs and what are some upgrades that can be done to a Kohler Opposed?

Driveline / peerless 820 transaxle

So I'm planning on putting a 820 in my viking/murray but I need a long shift shaft for it, can someone send me a part number or can i take the long shift shaft out of my spicer and put it in an 820?

So I recently put a Vanguard vtwin in my mower, however it is a 29ci engine and I was wondering what upgrades would be possible to it?
I'm looking more at low end torque over super high RPMS. I am however going to try and source a twin barrel carby off of a 20 HP and what is interchangable between 38ci and a 29ci?
Oh and before I forget my budget is open however I would like to try and keep it on the cheaper side but I don't mind paying for safety.
