Title: 50ci?
Post by: Racer57 on March 23, 2016, 02:34:04 pm
So what is the problem with building a 50ci tecumpseh twin? What is the part that makes them blow up so quick? Are people having the sleeves fall out? Broken rods?

Cylinder jugs break at the block. Too much material must be removed to get that bore size.

There are better horsepowrr alternatives for the big bore in the Tecumseh.

It can be done. I had one last over 3 seasons. BUT if you dont know what you are doing yes the jugs will pop off. Been there done that. will I tell my secret on how to NO. will I do one for anyone NO!!! I will say this and Bert is correct. There are alternatives. My 42 cube motors dyno consist as good as my 50 did with the 50 having more bottom end torque and carried it a bit higher in the power range. meaning you didnt have to spin it quite as hard. But the 42 cube motor when built right will hold its own with any motor out there including the roller kohlers.

If you want large bore don't use sleeves and chrome the cylinders. Then you could have even bigger bore.
