Sod the only 12 I know of thats a twin is an apposed twin and its a flathead engine not an OHV. This is not a desirable engine for BP. The preferred engine's in BP right now are the 18 and 20 hp Vangaurds, the 20 hp Tecumseh, and the Kohler's and kawasaki. though the last two are not used by many.

Good Evening.
So's ya know, Yep Briggs did make a 12.5 V twin O.H.V.
Don't have one myself but my uncle, a lawnmower repairman does. Fellow racer by the name of Justin Gordon did have it but traded it for something to him. Remember it cause I thought it was odd. Wanted to buy it from him but he priced it too high(My own uncle mind ya). Anyway, I really like the site. Bout time someone did this. Thanx!

I never seen a ohv 12 twin, but that don't mean it aint so. I have seen it in an apposed twin engine though.

Briggs OHV & Vanguard / Cam for OHV 14.5 Briggs

cam for OHV 14.5 Briggs
Post by 98ls1 on Oct 7, 2005, 12:56pm

Is there an aftermarket cam for this motor or one that will work? I just want the sound of a big cam to go along with what I'm using the mower for, it already has a 2 inch exhaust front to rear, cold air intake, etc...

This is all for looks and show, I'm building a dragster looking SS lawnmower to pull a cart around at car shows. I'm thinking the motor is a vanguard but I'll look to see. I always thought that the cam was the same in most briggs engines, is that true?

Alchohol carb question

I am building a briggs 20 horse intekv-twin, modifications include portwork, cam from precision cam , billet flywheel, milling the heads, and a alchohol carb . my question is will a 363 tillotson carb work, and im building an intake is there a suggested length on intake runners or design?

Go to http://www.askec.net jiopn the forum and go to the lawnmower section and ask Jon he is the tilly alcohol expert. I do believe the 363 will not be enough though. I ran a 360A series on my FX 15hp and it needed more. But again Jon is the expert and he can help in that field best.

The rings in the intek can handle as much as you can put in it and the starter start it. They are pretty good engines. Have lots a potential. There is no substitute for cubic inches.
