Greetings Race Fans;

The USLMRA 2008 Sta-Bil Racing Series returns to the beautiful Blue Grass state of Kentucky for the Redbud Trail Festival & 2nd Annual Sta-Bil US Points Race  April 26 & 27 2008.

Barbourville 2007 was a muddy day to remember.  But who can forget that despite the rain, cold and mud, the field was full of enthusiastic spectators all day!   This year, we’ve going to give them a show - in fact to shows –TWO DAYS OF RACING IN BARBOURVILLE!

Thanks to the efforts of Kevin Buchanan along with Mayor David Thompson and the RedBud Festival Committee, two great days of family entertainment and lawn mower racing are in store and you can expect another exciting event as part of the 2008 USLMRA Sta-Bil US Points Racing Series.

Mr Buchanan has stated that track will be open on Friday afternoon for early arrivals.

After Saturday’s activities there will be a Barbecue from 5:00 pm until close at the Redbud Festival.

Their will be a tent set up for all racers to display, meet and greet on Friday the 25th.  Racers and their spouse who set up at the meet and greet will be given two complimentary dinner tickets.  Proceeds will go toward the Redbud Festival and the Kentucky Blue Grass Spring Nationals.

Racers:

In a continuing effort promote safety, maintain our position as the nation's
best and most trusted lawn mower racing organization and recognize the
continuous changes in the sport we created 15 years ago, the USLMRA is announcing a
Licensing Program for the STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series US Points
Races (The STA-BIL Series).

It is our aim to address the issues of dangerous/unsafe Rookie drivers in
certain classes and so-called "check book racing." Therefore, we have created set
of rules to help address these issues.

Keep in mind that this set of rules is not perfect and everyone out there has
their own opinion on how to solve this problem. USLMRA's stance on this topic
is to put out a set of Licensing Rules and observe the result throughout the
year and amend them as needed in future years.

We have all seen this problem at Local Chapter races as well as at STA-BIL
Series events. No one wants to travel hundreds of miles to be injured or have
their Mowchines damaged.

These rules are being added to the 2008 Rule book and will be accessible on
the USLMRA web Site and well as the USLMRA group site under the files section.

So with that said let's great ready to have a great safe Racing season.

Manny Torres
USLMRA National Chief Steward

2008 USLMRA Licensing Rules

USLMRA License, Definition: A USLMRA License is issued to a person who has
raced at a prescribed class level and their experience is such that they are
believed to be capable of racing within the licensed class in a safe manner.

Rookie Racer, Definition: A person who has not competed in a STA-BIL
National Lawn Mower Racing Series US Points Race (STA-BIL Series) in any Prepared
Class or FX Class within the past 12 months of a Race Day.

Veteran Racer, Definition: A person who has competed in a STA-BIL Series
Race in any Prepared Class or FX Class within the past 36 months.

Pro Racer, Definition: (BP and FX): A person, 18 years of age or older, who
has raced in at least ten (10) USLMRA Races (STA-BIL Series or Local Chapter
Races) in the B Prepared or FX Class, with at least four (4) of the races
having been STA-BIL Series Races.

I. LICENSING: STA-BIL SERIES

1) A Rookie Racer shall not compete at a 2008 STA-BIL Series Race in B
Prepared or FX Class.

2) License will be issued in each class a racer competes in.

3) A License for one race class does not grant licensure for any other
class. Licensure is provided for each class.

4) Pro Racers shall be permitted to race in all classes at any STA-BIL
Series U.S. Points Race.

5) "Veteran License" will be issued to racers meeting licensing criteria in
IMOW, A Prepared, C Prepared, S Prepared and Junior (J) Prepared Classes.

6) "Pro License" will be issued to racers meeting licensing criteria in B
Prepared and FX Classes.

7) A License may be issued to a racer for any class at the discretion of the
Race Day Chief Steward for situations including, bit not limited to a racer
who can verify participation in similar class in non-USLMRA affiliated race
events; a satisfactory display of driver competence; a racer 16 to 18 who has
previously raced in at least four (4) STA-BIL Series races.

II VETERAN RACERS OBTAINING A PRO LICENSE

Veteran Racers may obtain a Pro License by racing in at least ten (10) USLMRA
Races (STA-BIL Series or Local Chapter Races) in any Veteran Racer Class,
with at least four (4) of the races having been STA-BIL Series Races, subject to
approval of the Chief Steward.

III. LICENSING AT THE USLMRA LOCAL CHAPTER LEVEL

Issuance of License is at the discretion of each Local Chapter

IV. INTENT

To recognize the ever-increasing speeds of racing lawn mowers and the wide
range of racer experience. To create a competency level to be adhered to and
legislated. To recognize the fact that racers often purchase entire racing
machines or component parts, creating the potential for a disparity of driving
expertise. To raise entry criteria in the B Prepared and FX Classes.

V. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

USLMRA realizes special circumstances may arise regarding Licensing. Racers
are encouraged to communicate with the National Chief Steward or Race Day
Chief Steward to discuss their situation.

USLMRA SET FOR FIRST-EVER STA-BIL LAWN MOWER RACING SERIES

TRIPLE HEADER, 3-RACE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!

LaBelle, Florida, Friday night, April 4, 2008
Avon Park, Florida, Saturday night, April 5, 2008
Avon Park, Florida, Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2008

Well it's that time again Sod Warriors, once again The USLMRA 2008
Sta-Bil Racing Series returns to exciting beautiful Florida April 4-
6, 2008. As always I am honored to be the Chief Steward for this
traditional event. We can look forward to a spectacular 3 days of
racing with the first ever Sta-Bil Tripleheader Weekend (the first of
several this year) hosted by the Florida Lawn Racing Association
(FLA - www.floridalawnracing.net) and NASGRASS www.nasgrass.com
(USLMRA's 1st Affiliated Chapter).
Thanks to the efforts of FLA Officials Tom Ast; FLA and Sid
Whiteside; NASGRASS, they have put together 3 days of exciting mower
racing at 2 separate locations and you can expect nothing but a first
class event to kick off the 2008 Calendar year of USLMRA Sta-Bil US
Points racing.

It all starts off with racing in LaBelle Florida, hosted by NASGRASS.
The track address is 1155 Pratt Boulevard LaBelle, FL 33935, they
have a link on their
Website at; www.nasgrass.com, if you like to copy it. There are also
two videos taken on a hot lap around the track.

NASGRASS plans a racer banquet after the event on Friday night, so
most racers will probably want to plan on staying overnight, since
the Saturday events won't start real early the drive shouldn't be a
problem.

For those Racers or event personnel, that want to come in on
Thursday, there are many Interesting things to do in LaBelle and the
surrounding area! There are Airboat Rides in The Everglades, a
Casino, area fishing guides, golf, etc. all either in LaBelle or a
short drive.

ALL Spectator Admission and Concessions will go to benefit Healthy
Start Southwest Florida in their efforts to aid premature and low
birth weight babies in Hendry County, they will be providing the
concessions. The NASGRASS website has a link to their website if you
need more information about this worthy organization.

Event Sponsors include Acoustical Services, Highlands County
Tourism, and Gulf Breeze Landscaping.

NASGRASS plans on having the Pit Gates open to accommodate racers as
needed. They also plan on having something to help fill the time
taken between the Heats and Features to keep the spectators
entertained. They will definitely run a Kid's Stock race (7-11 year
olds on STOCK mowers),

For the first time I am proud to announce that the Kids J/P class
will be run as a STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series US Points
National Class Race for the first time!

Please see the JP Class Rules posted at

http://www.uslmra.com/forum/index.php?topic=483.0

If you want to let anyone that has a K/S class mower know to bring
them with them that would be great! They are also working on the
possibly having a celebrity race, they
will probably run this race on the K/S (Completely STOCK) mowers for
this event to help with media exposure.

After a night of racing we will return to Avon Park for the 12
Minutes of Avon Park hosted by the Florida Lawn Racing Association.
As in years past you can expect nothing but the best from Tom Ast and
his team of Sod Warriors.

It is reminded that the 2008 rule book changes have been implemented
and will be enforced. Both tracks will be open for early arrivals and
maybe for a little pre race Skoaling Session the evening before.

On Saturday morning, April; 5, 10:00 AM at the Avon Park MowerPlex,
USLMRA Founder & President Bruce Kaufman will lead a roundtable
discussion on race team sponsorship and marketing. Bruce will give
case histories, share ideas and open up a discussion on how to market
your race team to prospective sponsors. All are welcome, and Bruce
plans to do this several times this season.

After Saturday's activities the FLA plans on hosting a barbeque for
all racers.

The 2008 Swamp Cabbage Festival Invitational is in the books! With
the exception of the accident on Saturday it was an outstanding
event! We had a few first time racers, we had three new racers in our
Kid's Stock and Junior Production classes, and we saw many "old"
NASGRASS racers come out to compete and watch!
Healthy Start Southwest Florida benefitted from this event in
excess of $4,000, and felt it was the best event to date! I have to
agree with them! We had a great representation in the parade on
Saturday, and the Spectator turnout was awsome for both days! We will
have final figures compiled by our next event which is this coming
Sunday March 2nd at the Highlands Shrine Club.
The highlight of the event for me was on Sunday, when BOTH of our
founders - Jim Gebbie and Ralph Niles were in attendance. They stayed
to distribute trophies, and are threatening to return to race with
us!!! I have raced with Jim Gebbie before, but this was my first time
meeting Mr. Niles, having two virtual legends of this sport come out
for this event was something that I personally will never forget! Add
to this my Grandson Justin Long competing in his FIRST RACE in the
Kid's Stock class and the event wil be one of the most memorable ever
for me!
The loyalty, hard work, and dedication of our members have kept
this club mowing, and will keep us mowing into the future!
As Jim Gebbie said on Sunday -- "One person does not make a club -
it takes everyone helping make it happen!", this has been and will
continue to be our strength!
Thank you beyond words to everyone that has made this cumulation of
our efforts come together!
Mow Ya L8R,
Sid

"Three guys got together and decided to build some racing Lawn Mowers. Harold, Dave, and Dave Jr. soon had six racers built. Now they needed a place for them and their ladies to race.
Grandpa G. gave them permission to build a track in his backyard.

"Dave Jrs.' friend, Trenton, pitched in and they all got together with shovels, rototillers, and finally Harold's tractor. The Race track took shape and they named it the "Nuts and Bolts" backyard Raceway.

"They invited some friends over, who had been dubbed, "The OutLaws" from a nearby community, who had built some racing mowers too. They found it was so much fun, that they wanted to form a club that could invite the public to their races.

"Dave Sr. contacted the USMLRA (United Staes Lawn Mower Racing Assoc.) After a lot of time and effort , Dave (sr) and Shannan, Harold and Linda, and Dave Jr  got the Rules and Regulations etc.,put together for the now named 'Rough Riders Lawn Mower Racing Affiliated Club'.

"It sometimes is a Rough Ride and Teddy Roosevelt was well known for his "Rough Riders" who were some honorable and tough soldiers. It seemed like an appropriate name.

"A Racing Schedule is set up for 2008. (Subject to changes)

" New members can submit an application for membership.

"We are always looking for new members in our area.

"Please visit the Rough Riders web site for track location and information. "

The Rough Riders have two (2) Home Tracks:  one in Mulliken, MI and one in Rives Junction, MI.

Welcome aboard ROUGH RIDERS!!!!!!!

January 23, 2008

USLMRA is thrilled to announce the completion of its 2008 STA-BIL National
Lawn Mower Racing Series US Points Race Series Schedule and confirmation of two
(2) Triple Header US Points Race Weekends, April 4-6 in Florida and June 20-22
in Illinois.

We just received confirmation from NASGRASS, our first USLMRA Affiliated Club
http://www.nasgrass.com/ that Friday night, April 4, 2008 will be the first
event in the history-making Triple Header US Points Race Weekend program.

NASGRASS will showcase the brand new Hendry-LaBelle Mowersports Park on
Friday night April 4. We'll then head back north to the Avon Park MowerPlex in
Avon Park. Florida as the Florida Lawnracing Association (FLA)
http://www.floridalawnracing.net/ hosts US Points Races Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

A NASGRASS Affiliated Club (AC) race is also being discussed for Saturday
afternoon in Avon Park prior to the start of the evening US Points Race. This AC
race would be a good way to bring racers from other groups to Avon Park to
race and socialize.

The Following is from NASGRASS President and FLA Vice President Sid
Whiteside:

"The NASGRASS Board of Directors voted unanimously to host the Friday April
4, 2008 addition to the Double Header scheduled for the Avon Park Mowerplex at
the Hendry-LaBelle Mowersports Park in LaBelle to enable a Triple Header
Event!

"We are extremely excited about this historic event; Bruce let everyone know
that this will be the event to measure the remainder of the season against!!!
We will be having a Long Haul Award for EACH DAY, so whoever travels the
farthest will receive a trophy for their travels --- AND at least $100 in cash AND
possibly a $50 gas card!! (

"We are working on having a second place and third place award for this also,
with just gas cards and/or cash - no trophy. We hope this will increase the
attendance to an all time record breaking level!

"NASGRASS is excited about the opportunity to showcase our new home track,
the Hendry-LaBelle Mowersports Park, in LaBelle Florida to the fastest racers in
the country!!! Please have everyone look at our website for TWO videos of the
track from a "Mowerseye" view, as well as photos from dream to reality. Also
let the racers know that Hendry County and LaBelle will roll out the red
carpet to welcome the STA-BIL National Lawnmower Racing Series into town! We will
be posting Racer Rates at area hotels for this historic event, and with the
Friday night event being in LaBelle this will require only one move for all
racers to keep their work to a minimum.

"Mow Ya L8R,
Sid Whiteside President NASGRASS Inc."

Please stay tuned for updates on this historic weekend, and about the 2008
STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series.

WISCONSIN LAWN MOWER RACING ASSOCIAITON

SIGNS 2-YEAR DEAL WITH FIFIELD FIRE DEPT.

Eagle River, WI – January 23, 2008 – The Wisconsin Lawn Mower Racing Association (WILMRA) has announced a 2-year, 4-race deal with the Fifield, Wisconsin Fire Department and confirmed Sunday, June 1 and Saturday, July 5 for 2008 race events with 2009 dates to be announced.

Known as “the home of Wisconsin lawn mower racing” Fifield has hosted WILMRA lawn mower racing for the past seven years and has been a key venue for WILMRA racers who compete across “America’s Dairyland” as well as on the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series circuit.

“We’re looking forward to many more great racing events hosted by our friends in Fifield,” said WILMRA President Randy Stys, of Eagle River.  “Many of WILMRA’s first races were held in Fifield and the town is near and dear to Wisconsin lawn mower racers.  They have a great track, strong spectator turnout and great family fun.”

Proceeds from the races benefit the Fifield Fire Department.

WILMRA is one of more than 20 USLMRA Local Chapters nationwide and hosts 8-10 races at fairs, festivals, towns and race tracks across Wisconsin.  WILMRA races feature six classes of racing on riding lawn mowers with all cutting blades removed at speeds up to 60 mph. Racers compete for points, trophies and bragging rights. There are no cash prizes. All WILMRA events are USLMRA sanctioned.

2008 WILMRA races also include the Lafayette Co Fair, Darlington WI Sunday, June 29th and the Bayfield Co Fair, Iron River WI. Saturday, August 23rd.

The USLMRA was created in 1992 and sanctions more than 100 races annually across the country.

The USLMRA and its STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series is televised on Speed TV and the Outdoor Channel and has been featured on ESPN2, the Discovery Channel and the TV sitcom, “Home Improvement,” as well as in the New York Times, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, the Wall Street Journal and The Paul Harvey Radio Network.

USLMRA sponsors include STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer, which keeps stored gas fresh for quick, easy engine starts as well as 104+ Octane Boost, HEET Gas-Line Antifreeze, No Leak Automotive Sealers and Diesel Power.
