Title: Different Width Tyres
Post by: TheCountWhoCouldnt on April 02, 2018, 06:50:55 pm
Hey,

New to mower racing and trail mowers. Is it possible to use tyres with a rim width that is slightly different to the width of the rim?
For instance, could I use an 18x9.5-8 inch tyre on an 18x8.5-8 inch rim?
Would this seal a bead and would it be necessary to use inner-tubes?

Many thanks

The Count

Yes, you can do that

Is it better off with tyres that are wider or less wide than the rim? For instance would it be better for me to run 9.5" wide or 7" wide on an 8.5" rim?

better traction if rim slightly wider than tire.

Was thinking so. Less sidewall flex. Thanks guys, I know exactly what I'm getting now.

Better check the rules. Some require both rear be the same size.
