The Vari-Drives are no good. They will blow up when they are over driven.... Been there done that....

id like to know the weak links too....maybe input gear??
Actually now that i think about it, mybe because of the 20:1 reduction between the shaft driven by the input gears maybe the two gears that that spin with that shaft..being cast explode because of the speed....kinda like a flywheel....maybe i have it backwords though

Trust me boys they suck in stock mowers the axles cut thru the upper housing the reverse and forward are on same shaft the shift collar siezes on it all the time in stock form thus trying to go both directions at the same time

I'm not going to waste the time on it. If George says it's no good, it's most likley no good.

I have a Murray that says automatic, it has 2 forward rev. and neutral on the fender shifter, you put it in gear and press a pedal with your right foot to make it move. It is not a hydro drive, only a belt and pulleys, and the pulleys do not change in size. The pressure you put on the pedal takes the slack out of the belt. Is this still considered a veri drive? It works great as a grass cutter. Is anyone familuar with this set up?
