i would use shaftlocks and get rid of the spacers, just my opinion! if you use the spacers, then using a set screw would not be a bad idea! just my :twocents:

Shaft locks sounds like a must ! Thanks

Worked on the transaxle holding rods, adjustable if needed

Got the caliper mounted , yes we have brakes,

Though about it and thought why not have a swing out of the way front end, quick remove if need be

Hey Eddie man that thing is looking good!

One thing I wonder about.... Your idler pulley up by the crank pulley might be on the wrong side and it might be  to tight to the crank pulley. The way it looks I don't think the belt will slip enough.

If it were me I would install the idler pulley on the opposite side about middle ways of the belt.
Check out the way George does his, basically the same way I have mine. Works like a champ!

i agree with Ron. not to say it wont work, but you also need an offside idler. i use a fixed idler with a single pulley for my clutch, then i have an offside idler too. here's mine

Yes, that idler pulley should be placed on the other side for proper clutch operation. Other than that, your build is coming along great.

got the brake thinge fixed, much better

got it on all four out side and right side up lol

had a problem with my clutch, the nut for the clutch would not go under the arm, so i made it not meed a nut.

HeliCoil works for me, anybody see a problem with it, have you tryed that, does it work ok,  ??

I removed the pully at the engine pully, didnt have room for it on the other side so i added a bolt, Hmmmmm

Well its time to think engine, hmmmm. With what i got, what would be a good engine to build for this MowRacer ?

Big cube, small cube, long stroke, short stroke ?? big bore, short stroke , long stroke, small bore, single or twin ?

What you think and why ?

Thanks my friends

i would start with a single flathead. less expensive than building up others and alot simpler to work with.
Granted, you can definately sink money into a flathead but you can sink alot more into a twin or ohv.
maybe start out simple with fresh build, some porting, new springs, cam and billet dogbone.

Just go fully built single OHV then move to a OHV twin.  I can build a OHV single for the same as I can a flat head single
