I have a starter to turn it. Took a  chevrolet gear reduction race car starter had the head played with and now it mounts to briggs with some small changes. Still in test mode but would be perfect for a full mod. Starter turns over 800 hp small blocks.

I think he means turn high rpm to get the HP... :noplease:

It won't be high compression in a flatty getting you the hp numbers on a dyno...

Yep I'm talking rpm's about 7800 to be exact.I had one last 2 years running 2 classes.By no means is it cheap hoss power, lots of machine work & a good tilotson carb & with this carb ya can only run FX or Pro-X class.I can get real close to 30 with a mower carb but it's got to be a good one.

Got 2 of them being born now,be up & running real soon. You want be able to miss em,they'll be kicking some OHV's butt. :alcoholic:

there are motors from tecumseh that will compete with the B&S they are a little more money for parts though if i am not mistaken. and most of the time hp doesnt mean a thing you can have all the hp you want, torque is what gets you around the track. and there are a lot of parts that wont increase your numbers but will let you rev faster that helps the motor out.
wide open into the corner, pray to god i make it out

Well, after doing a little more work on the Tec 12.5  i think i'll give it a try..mostly because of the cyl head flow is quite a bit more than the briggs that i've flowed, the briggs head just dont lent itself for a "tunnel" port wich really helps flow on the top. I installed a 1.6" intake valve and a 1.250 exhaust valve for the flow test and will be set up with 1.5 ratio rocker arms and the valve lift is at .465.  One problem i see as a major issue for reliability at 6-7000rpm would be the oil pump..what a scrawny little thing! I am awaiting on the delivery of a motorcycle oil pump to install..i'm going to try to mount inside the engine since the counterweight is removed but, if not inside.. i'll mount it outside somwhere. I will be getting a forged piston and the Arc rod for the 10hp tecs. and i have a billet flywheel too.  Anyway, does anyone have any other ideas on this oil pump issue?  --thanks Ron.
