Is there a National Pulling Organization?

For the smaller garden tractors? (I know about NTPA and the rest)

Is there a set of rules that everyone uses or is it different by group?

Please forgive my ignorance I am trying to learn more about your sport.

Yes for sure Lee. The national orginization is called NQS. National Quarter Scale. There are a few classes and they are tech extremely hard. There is Stock Altered which is like the nascar of NQS. There is the Super stock class, Pro stock class, and then you have some twin cylinder classes. The singles can pull in a twin class but the twins can't pull in a single class. The singles in the Prostock class can make up around 70hp out of 50.5 cubic inch. Thats on methonal. Methanol is THE only fuel used in the NQS events. There are a couple of Yahoo groups you can look at to get more info. Check out Gardentractorpulling in the Yahoo groups section. Also check out www.midwestsupercub.net. There you can see some video of some tractors. If the roundy round guys had the horsepower the pulling tractors had it woould be a whole new animal. The stock altered tractors are limited a 16hp kolher based engine. Stock stroke, .060 over bore, stock valve size of 1.380 and a cam lift of .340. They also tech carb size and port sizes. Those engines can make around 40hp. I believe there 37 cubic inches. One of the tractors on SuperCubs web sight has two 45cube kohler comand vtwins. Crank to crank making 200hp. The Pro altered class of vtwins will make 80-100hp from 45 cubic inches. Hope this helps a little Lee.

The NQS is the biggest pulling Assoc. In the US. As of right now. I would like to pull with these guys but they dont come to NC. And  also can not travel....

You know it would be nice for one of the pullers on here to post some build techniques (secrets)! :lol: I find it interesting! Outlawmower I know your from the Charlotte area Can you keep us posted on upcoming events? I would like to come check one out!

Do they buy and sell there? I got a 1967 Wheelhorse lawn ranger that I might be interested in selling. Or turning into a puller. :lol:

 :lol: No thats the spirit!!! The big vendors only sell.... But you can put your wheelhorse up for sale and someone might want to buy it...! Thats how I picked up a couple of wheel horse frames, tranny's ECT.

The last NQS event I attended there were only major vendors selling. If you want to sell that Lawnranger Nor you could post a classified on Brian Millers free classified add page. It is nothing but garden tractor pulling parts and tractors. Me, I would put it on evil bay. The little wheel horses are a high collectable item if its a complete mowchine

Ron, just load it in the bed of your truck and put a 4-sale sign on it and leave it in the parking lot. put your cell # on it and after a few of the mowers get pulling, i would think it would be sold on the spot. i have seen guys sell atv's at the drag race they have at biglick.
