HD Starter
Post by Red Horse Racing on Jun 27, 2005, 3:59pm

Pretty much everyone knows by now, you almost need the heavy duty starter number 808726 on a 28CI that's been built at all. I can't do much here at low buck racing, but I can swap on the head from a 25CI model. A little clean up on the porting, and that's about it. Okay, I just splurged on a used aluminum flywheel.

That much for a single new part would all but break the budget, but I'm seeing a lot of used, larger engines, for less than the price of the starter.

My question is, is there a list somewhere of all the models that came with this starter? Spending an hour searching down every model number on every engine I see isn't cost efficient time wise. If I knew which engines to look for, maybe I could get lucky at the local salvage yard as well.

350777-1137 and 1154, and 3560112-0112, 357777A-0113 and 380777-0142 and 381777-0110. That is it. Hard to find them easier to just buy the starter.

Thanks George!!! That's what I wanted to know. Guess that's part of why they are so expensive, eh?

I was quoted $173.20! I just saw on Don's site that he offers them for a lot less. By asking and shopping around, we just might make these girls run yet!
