Hi just to throw a little something into the mix in the BLMRA they allow a 10hp motor in their group3 mower class or a 7.5 hp overhead valve engine in the same class. Do you think they would ever think of allowing  something like that. The reason I ask is, if I wanted to buy a new motor to build it is getting hard to get any thing in a flathead in Canada because of emission requirements, and also just because I would like to use the newer tecnology.

That only seems right and makes sense to me.  Someone may get ticked about not being able to race, but the rules are there to TRY to keep the field even.   Making exceptions to allow one to have a modification the rest in the field haven't done, because they followed the rules, defeats the purpose of having rules.

The real pain comes with local chapters having different rules than the national organization.  Say I only ran the locals, hence, I built to those rules.  One national race is close enough for me to attend, but I have nothing to race competetively because of this.  Now I know dang well I, as a driver, though I'm not the driver, LOL, will not be a threat to anyone, it would be nice if the mower itself could be.  How many times can someone be lapped before they look foolish?  LOL

So while I understand the reasoning behind local chapters having rules to cater to the local racers, it does have it's drawbacks.

Local chapters can cater to their area but cannot allter a national class to their needs. It must be run per US rules. Those offering a non-sanctionioned class like super stock kid stock or this new one i hear of rp it still goes by a general guidleline among all wioth the understanding it isn't offered on the national level. So moral of the story you want to run nationally run a sanctioned class.  :(

I understand, so there is no point to building a low hp tractor on the off chance that I might be able to run in ap,so I will continue to build for the FX class and maybe I will see you guys sometime to see how I compare.
