Will not start!
« on: April 01, 2007, 03:02:46 pm »
On my MTD with a Tecumseh Enduro 13, I can't get it to turn over, for some reason it ran fine last
fall, probably october, and has sat in my shop since then.
I used the trickle-charger and charged the battery for probably 4-5 hours
then hooked it up and it wont start, i AM sitting on the seat, and i AM pressing the clutch
, The mower deck is in the stopped position. There is fresh gas in it, and the starter will not turn over.
Any suggestions, also is there a low oil shutdown, and if so will it disconnect the starter?
Thanks guys,
Andrew

Your battery terminals might be loose, also you battery might just be bad. Try jumping it.

Every few times turning the key, the solenoid will click, but not as often as not.
I'll go out there and tighten and clean the terminals. Also, if i jump it should i go to the batery
or ground it and put the pos directly to the starter terminal. Thats what my buddy does, is this bad to do?

Obviously this problem is on your regular lawn tractor (ie sit on seat, depress clutch, mower deck in stopped position....ect)

Why don't you try a forum like this:
http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/tractor/

You may find your answer to your problems quicker on a "LAWN MOWER" forum than on a "RACING" forum.

We are all here to help but need to keep our forum on track!
