opposed twin briggs engine crank differences
« on: November 01, 2021, 05:34:47 pm »
im currently obsessed with these briggs engines.

i know there's two 46ci engines one with a longer stroke and one with a large bore (super rare, i wish i had one)

and then there's 40 and 42 ci engines as well.

my question is are the crankshaft ends where they sit in the block and pan (bottom half of crankcase that unbolts)  the same, could they be placed in any opposed twin engines, if not which ones will fit which.

my second question is if anyone has a few cranks on hand, what are the throw offsets (distance between center nose and crank shaft pins (where the connecting rods connect.)

thanks,
he who does not  try, does not learn. he who learns, succeeds

40ci crank 2.19" stroke
42ci crank 2.28" stroke
46ci crank 2.46" stroke
All cranks will interchange, except 46ci crank will need clearancing of block to fit in blocks other than std bore 46 block.
