Found rule:   SA or M,  DOT or Snell Certified, no year rating required?

No year rating.  Just has to be DOT or Snell certified full face helmet.

More of a common sence thing.  If you have a $5 head get a $5 helmet.

Dont Snell certifications expire after a certain amount of time?  Like 12 years or something?

They expire when you crash hard too...I just scrapped a $600 Shoei from a crash last year. Now is the time to find deals on left over last year models. Big discounts can be found.

I see how you are.... couldn't break a mower part, so you trying to break ground.

We showed up at Bonneville two years ago and had to buy what the SCTA wanted us to run, over $2,000. for one helmet! We hate it, too hard. Before this happened I spent a lot of thime on the internet researching helmets, bottom line after my research, the $50. Pep bOys helmet did as good a job as the high priced ones, some researchers found a softer inside material prevented less injuries than the hard stuff , your call.

I've tried on a few of the cheap helmets. The way they fit my head, if I wore them as much as I crash, I would be lucky if I could count to potato right now.

The ground should know that it should move out of my way when I'm busy crashing.

2010 helmets expire this coming fall. I believe the 2015 ones come out in September if I remember right. Snell ratings are good for 5 years, so the 15's will be good till 2020
