If you are buying a carb, don't go to that old round slide stuff!  I would strongly recommend having a look at the the Mikuni SBN38 butterfly carb, the sbn's  are the most responsive carbs i've used. If you insist on a slide carb, the Keihn PWK/Airstriker is a fine piece!
If you already have a round slide, the ufo an option for sure. Mostly the 2 cycle carbs are jetted way bigger due to major hp difference per cc versus the 4 stroke.

I know this is a long shot, but trying to resurrect this post to see if Ron might respond or if anyone else has experience using a Mikuni SBN on a Vanguard. Isn't that a 2-stroke carb? Where would you start with jetting for a mild 30ci build?

Thanks Paul! According to the Sudco manual they are designed to be mounted downdraft, but can be mounted sidedraft... I might grab one off of ebay and see what I can do with it.
