1) do the 49 intek heads have bigger valves and are the heads wider or taller?(and do they bolt on to 44 heads)

2) Are the intake runners bigger?

3) Could you lighten a 49CI rod safely?

Every lawn mower shop I know has at least an intek or few of all flavors with rods hanging out of them..on grass cutters. They are notorious for breaking rods to start with. Go on and buy you a set of good rods and some of those aftermarket flat top pistons from your other post. At the very least don't go to grinding on the rods you have now. With that big heavy crankshaft out of that thing...there's not much you can do anyway.
