Chassis Help!!!
« on: May 23, 2013, 01:21:26 pm »
I recently got my mower back together after lowering it and locking the axle and it turns once every couple weeks haha. Its turns awfully. I have 13x6.5-6s on the front and 18x9.5-8 on the back. I had clearance issues with my brake so I had to kick the tires way out so my brake would fit on. What do i need to do to make it turn better? I really dont wanna add weight to the front so I can turn so does anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks,
Colton

Colton, you need to research things like Ackerman, toe, castor, camber, scale, learn thesethings then you might understand what you need to do. Search this site on builds. but until you understand what I just talked about, it's not going to turn.

I know what Toe and castor and camber are. the problem is that I bought a kit off of bmi that and i welded it up so Idk how to adjust my caster or camber. Well for camber i could just bend the spindle but thats close to it.

Sounds like you might want to get some kind of measuring tools to determine what you have, then adjust to what you would prefer.  I know it's a vague answer, but not every chassis is the same, and everybody has a preference.  It boils down to how you want to drive.  The ol' faithful search bar, in fact one of Bro. George Herrin's builds should dictate how to set up a chassis initially....

American Powersports: AP4051. You will need to get the spindle adapter.

AHLMR has no home track, we race all over the midwest.  Or at least I did, until I hurt myself, lol.

Oh.  It usually help to address the individual by their name at the beginning of the sentence, so as to avoid confusion for other folks.

I'll go back to being invisible now.

So, when talking to yourself, do you address yourself as "self" or Jeff? I refer to myself as Ed. Or Mr. Awesome.
And sometimes, idiot.

Bob Dole always referred to Bob Dole as Bob Dole.  Awkward.

The bmi kit is 11* iirc,  that's saying of course that you weld it straight.
