Yeah, you wont seperate throttle and choke cables. I hate the override set up, its even a pain when its on a mower you cut grass with  :bash:

Our rules just state that you have to have a throttle return spring and must be governed to no more than 3600 rpm and that is it for my class. I think I am going to use the stock throttle cable for my choke since it still on the dash and cheap since I already have it  :D

also what is the throttle "override" anyways??

for example, if you pull all the way up on the throttle, you hit the choke

That's what it does... the throttle is part of the govener...and pulls to strech the spring which sets top rpm (in this case 3600)

Then if the throttle is pulled "further"...it overides the spring and pushs on the choke...

Kinda like when you go from the turtle... past the rabbit ... to the little plate in the venturi sign...

I have romoved the choke on all of mine. They have K+N style filters(round cylindrical). Then I keep a short piece of 2 1/2" pvc in my tool box, slides right over them and makes a really nice choke on those infrequent cool days.
Then I soldered up the choke stem holes and smoothed them up.I dont know if it helps much, but I figure all the air I can get has to be good.
Never ran a choke on a race car.

Of course it depends on what youre rules allow.

I think I have i figured out maybe.

This seems it might work. it seems to open and close the throttle like it is suppose too.  I will give it a try as soon as I get it mounted back on the frame.

Thanks for all the help.

Okay It looks Like I was wrong

When it was just sitting on the bench looking at the butterfly and moving the throttle block on the plate it seemed like it was opening and closing like I assumed it would.

I mounted the engine back on the frame and got it fired up but moving the throttle cable didn't control the throttle like I thought it should. I  did really mess with it much I don't want to over rev the motor and do any damage.

Any Ideas how to get the throttle to work and still use the governor?

Thanks again

Meaning what...?

Looks right from the pic, ...what did it do  (or not do)...?

Well good question! I guess I need to go out and look at it again.

First off it didn't seem to respond to the throttle when I would rev it up. It only seemed to work by me manually moving the throttle on the carb. I never really have every paid much attention to the whole governor throttle thing before. So one question would be how fast should it respond to me pulling the cable when I am revving it up?

It should start at an idle speed and rev to a preset rpm...and no higher..no matter how high you move the throttle...especially under no load..
