12.5 Tecumseh
« on: July 23, 2011, 03:31:41 pm »
Hey guys,
I just joined today.  I have an old Craftsman I just picked up for free last week and have just started the build.  It has the Tecumseh 12.5 Enduro and six speed.  I re-wired the starter and it runs good except for a mild backfire.  Going to check for sticking valves etc. as the gas that was in it was pretty old.  My question is what kind of RPM's can I get out of this engine without blowing it up?  And any links to performance parts would be appreciated.

I'll post pics as I go.

Thanks!

Gabe

The OHV11-13 engines are a 21.82ci displacement, 2.532" stroke, and a 3.312" bore. They are smaller than the 29.9ci OHV135-180 engines. They have a different rod journal size and length. I do not know of any performance stuff for these engines.
You could take out the balancer, provided you plug the holes so it retains oil pressure. The chances of it living that way? I would say, with a stock rod and off the governor, none.

I BELIEVE that the TVM220 parts will interchange.
