Jack shaft powerloss?
« on: June 13, 2010, 02:34:06 am »
Hi Guys,

Having a bit of a ponder and wondered if anybody new the approximate power loss you would get from running a jackshaft . I thought that not running one and going straight to the gearbox would reduce any losses you may have. Am i correct im my thinking or does it not make any difference?

well my thaughts are the less drag the better jack shaft and more bearings to me means more drag plus  more pullys and another belt would mean more also on the upside if your lowering the tractor  your going to handle better but if you lower alot your most likely gonna need a jackshaft i will take better handling over that little bit of hp your loosing any day thats just my opinion
